There is something about the holiday season that feels softer, slower, and more intentional—especially when we choose to document it. Every year, my holiday studio mini sessions become a gentle pause in the rush of the season. A moment to gather close, breathe deeply, and preserve the fleeting magic of this chapter of life.
As a San Jose family photographer, holiday studio minis are one of my most cherished offerings of the year. Not because they are quick or trendy—but because they hold so much meaning. These sessions are about connection over perfection, warmth over extravagance, and memories that feel honest and timeless.
For 2025, I poured my heart into designing two studio setups that feel elevated yet approachable, festive yet neutral, and most importantly—true to the families who step in front of my lens. If you’ve participated in my holiday minis before, you know how intentional every detail is. If this is your first year considering them, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

The holidays pass quickly. Children grow taller. Baby cheeks lose their softness. Families shift and evolve in quiet, beautiful ways. Holiday photos are often the images that get pulled out year after year—placed into albums, framed on walls, or tucked into keepsake boxes.
Studio mini sessions offer something special:
As a San Jose family photographer, I’ve seen firsthand how meaningful these sessions become over time. Clients often tell me that their holiday photos are the ones their children recognize themselves in—the ones that mark time.
Each year, I design my holiday sets from scratch. I don’t purchase pre-made backdrops or copy trending designs. Instead, I start with a feeling.
I ask myself:
The answer is always found in texture, layering, and intentional restraint.
For 2025, I wanted the studio to feel like stepping into a softly decorated holiday home—one that feels welcoming, warm, and a little magical without being overwhelming.

This year’s first setup is one of the most personal sets I’ve ever created.
At the center of it all is a handmade giant wreath arch—a piece that took countless hours, revisions, and more trial and error than I originally anticipated. It was important to me that this didn’t feel stiff or overly structured. I wanted it to feel organic, lush, and full of life.
To achieve this, I layered:
The result is a wreath arch that feels grand yet gentle—an inviting frame that naturally draws the eye toward the family seated beneath it.
To ground the setup, I paired the wreath arch with a vintage tufted bench. The bench adds character and a subtle sense of history—something I love incorporating into my work as a San Jose family photographer. It invites families to sit close, lean in, and interact naturally.
Behind the bench, I placed two smaller Christmas trees tucked just inside the arch. This small detail makes a big difference—it adds dimension and fullness to the background without competing for attention.
To complete the look, I added:
Every element was chosen to support the main story: your family, your connection, your season of life.

The second setup is a refreshed and reimagined version of a favorite from last year—proof that sometimes simplicity, when done well, is truly timeless.
At the heart of this setup is a Christmas tree decorated in soft, neutral tones. This year, I added:
These details catch the light beautifully and add just enough visual interest while remaining cohesive with my signature style.
To complete the scene, I reused last year’s velvet white chair—a piece that clients loved for its elegance and comfort. The chair offers a perfect option for seated portraits, parent-child moments, and gentle interactions that feel natural and unforced.
This setup is ideal for families who love a clean, minimal holiday aesthetic that still feels festive.
One of the things my clients value most about working with me as their San Jose family photographer is the studio experience itself.
My studio is intentionally calm, neutral, and welcoming. There is no rushing, no pressure to perform, and no expectation of perfection.
During your mini session:
Mini sessions are short by design, but they are never rushed. Years of experience allow me to work efficiently while still creating space for genuine moments.
Wardrobe is one of the most important pieces of creating cohesive, timeless holiday images. What you wear truly has the power to elevate your entire gallery—or unintentionally distract from it. Because my holiday studio setups are thoughtfully designed and visually layered, I always encourage clients to choose outfits that complement the space rather than compete with it.
I recommend steering clear of bold prints, loud patterns, and large logos. While these pieces can be fun in everyday life, they tend to draw the eye away from faces and connection in photographs. Busy patterns can also clash with the textures and greenery within the holiday setups, making the overall image feel visually overwhelming.
The goal is for your family to be the focus—not the clothing.
Layering is one of the easiest ways to elevate your look. Thoughtful layers add depth, interest, and a styled feel without needing anything overly trendy.
Consider incorporating:
Texture photographs beautifully and adds a richness to your images that flat fabrics simply don’t provide.
Because both holiday setups include a considerable amount of greenery, I strongly advise avoiding bright colors—especially greens. Wearing green against green can cause outfits to blend too closely into the background or feel visually heavy.
Instead, I recommend neutral and earthy tones that blend seamlessly into the overall look, such as:
These colors photograph beautifully, complement skin tones, and ensure your images feel timeless year after year.
Shoes are completely optional for holiday studio minis. In fact, barefoot is often my favorite choice—especially for little ones. Bare feet create a grounded, cozy, and earthy look that fits perfectly with the organic nature of the setups.
If you do choose shoes, I recommend simple, neutral footwear without logos or heavy contrast.
When wardrobe is intentional and cohesive, the final gallery feels elevated, calm, and beautifully put together.

Holiday studio mini sessions are designed with real families in mind—families with busy schedules, young children, and a desire to document this season without stress.
These sessions are perfect for:
Not all children can last longer than 15 minutes—and that is completely okay. Mini sessions are intentionally short so little ones stay engaged, happy, and comfortable. Years of experience allow me to work quickly and intuitively, capturing meaningful moments within a brief timeframe.
Holiday minis are also a simple, meaningful way to document your family for that specific year. They provide updated photos that reflect where you are right now—how your children look, how your family connects, and what this season of life feels like.
Whether you’re welcoming a new baby, watching toddlers grow, or simply wanting one beautiful image for your holiday cards, mini sessions offer a low-stress, high-impact option.
Holiday studio mini sessions always sell out very quickly each year. Because of the high demand and the intentional way these sessions are offered, availability is extremely limited.
Clients on my email mailing list receive priority access every year. Subscribers are notified well before the public release and are given the first opportunity to book their spot. Many sessions are filled before the dates are ever shared publicly.
I only offer additional dates once my initially released sessions have fully booked—and only if my schedule allows.
Due to the incredible demand this year, I was able to add three full additional days of holiday studio mini sessions once the original dates sold out. This is not something I can always accommodate, which is why joining the mailing list is the best way to stay informed.
If holiday minis are something you hope to participate in, I highly recommend joining the email list so you never miss early access or booking opportunities.
Families often tell me—both in person and through heartfelt reviews—that what keeps them coming back year after year is how comfortable and easy the entire experience feels. Parents share how quickly their children warm up during sessions, how relaxed they feel stepping into the studio, and how surprised they are by the number of genuine, candid moments captured in such a short time.
Many have expressed how much they value having a photographer they fully trust—someone who understands their family, works intuitively with their kids, and approaches each session with care and intention. As a San Jose family photographer, being trusted to document these milestones means everything to me, and it’s a responsibility I hold with deep gratitude.

The holiday season has a way of reminding us how quickly time moves. One year blends into the next, children grow in the quiet spaces between traditions, and before we realize it, the season we’re living in has already passed.
These 2025 holiday studio mini sessions were created as an invitation to slow down—to pause long enough to preserve what this chapter feels like right now. From the handmade wreath arch that took shape through hours of trial, error, and intention, to the softly styled tree adorned with neutral bows and whimsical icicles, every element in the studio was designed to support connection rather than distract from it.
As a San Jose family photographer, my heart behind these sessions has never been about creating “perfect” holiday photos. It’s about documenting real families—your laughter, your closeness, your season of life exactly as it is. It’s about giving you images that will feel just as meaningful ten or twenty years from now as they do today.
Holiday studio minis are more than a quick photo session. They are a yearly marker. A way to look back and remember how small your children once were, how your family fit together in this moment, and how it felt to be here—together—during this season.
If you chose to step into the studio this year, thank you for trusting me with something so personal. Your continued support allows me to create intentionally, to design with heart, and to keep offering an experience that values connection over trends.
