Oh how I adore this sweet family that was literally the sunshine on this foggy San Francisco day! I know many of my clients shy away from foggy sessions and immediately want to reschedule. However, this misty atmosphere helps create a unique ambiance that ultimately adds character to your photos! 

Now, you can typically spot the Golden Gate Bridge from a distance at this gorgeous coastal spot, but the fog rolled in fairly quickly right when we arrived to the session. We quickly got to work as the incoming fog looked significantly heavier and thicker than typical wispy rolling fog. These two sweet girls were SO full of joy and the oldest kept squealing that she was so excited to take photos with me!! It’s safe to say my heart melted right on the spot. 

When preparing for any session within the San Francisco area, it’s important to note that dressing appropriately is key to a successful session – especially when tiny humans are involved! Warm kids = happy kids that’ll last through the duration of our time together. I always emphasize that coastal weather is extremely unpredictable – even on the day of the session – so preparing for any drastic change is crucial. Layers are essential, as the fog can create a chilly atmosphere; most of the time, wind is involved so that adds double the chilliness! 

During our session, I aim to create a relaxed and natural atmosphere that captures the essence and authentic personality of your family. Not only does the fog create a beautiful soft muted light that adds depth and character to the overall look, but it also creates the dreamiest and ethereal feel! I absolutely love capturing a mix of candid and posed shots, highlighting the unique personalities and dynamics of your family. While the unexpected fog clouded over us in this session, it did add a unique muted look to the photos and made them even more special and memorable!

Family photos are a powerful tool for preserving memories and creating a sense of connection and belonging. They capture moments in time that can never be repeated, and serve as a reminder of the love, joy, and laughter shared with those we hold dear. While taking family photos may sound daunting and tiresome, I can assure you that once you receive your photos, you will treasure them for generations to come.
